On Wednesday, October 27th, 2021, the entire Mindrolling community gathered on the auspicious day of Lhabab Düchen to receive Kyabje Khochhen Rinpoche. The entire community rejoiced at Rinpoche’s arrival at the monastery after a period of two years. Soon after the arrival, Minling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche and the entire Mindrolling administration team met to update His Eminence Khochhen Rinpoche on the monastery’s activities and to seek Rinpoche’s guidance and direction for the future.
Minling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche and the entire monastic sangha of Mindrolling also supplicated Kyabje Khochhen Rinpoche to bestow the Minling Chökhor transmissions and empowerments to ensure that the new generation of Mindrolling monks and Samten Tse nuns have all the transmissions necessary for their practice and education. For any practitioner, it is essential to receive the sacred transmissions of wang, lung, and tri from an authentic master prior to doing any practice. Receiving the empowerments, transmissions, and explanations plants the seed of the genuine fruition of the practices.
Preparations for the empowerments began immediately. Under the guidance of Minling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche and the senior administration team led by Ven. Tulku Dorje Gyalpo, all the ritual materials and offerings were gathered with the utmost care and precision. The sangha of monks and nuns saw to all the preparations, including preparing the shrine and site where the empowerments would take place.
To ensure the health and safety of the community, the Minling Admin team also made sure all monks and nuns received flu shots prior to the empowerments. Although all the monks and nuns have received both COVID vaccination shots, a flu shot clinic was held at Mindrolling on November 4th, 2021, for the entire monastic and lay community. The admin team under Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche, organized the entire event and worked closely with local health officials to make this possible. On Saturday, November 6th, the Minling Chökhor empowerments began at Mindrolling. With great kindness, His Eminence Khochhen Rinpoche bestowed the empowerments, thus ensuring a pure and unbroken lineage of these sacred transmissions for the next generation of practitioners at Mindrolling.
