Consecration of the Mindrolling Zangdok Palri Temple in Tumlong, Sikkim

On the 11th of November 2024, the consecration of the new Zangdok Palri temple took place in Tumlong, Sikkim. The intricate and ornate structure is named after the Copper Colored Mountain of Glory, the buddhafield of Guru Rinpoche, and in accordance with the sacred mandala displays the colors of the Buddha families on each side

Its complex construction involved great effort and it is said to be one of the most meritorious and beneficial types of temple that can be built. Through the vision and great endeavors of Kyabje Khochhen Rinpoche, the support of many sponsors, and the dedicated hard work of many monks, artists, and workers, this monumental project was completed with great success.

This most auspicious occasion of the consecration was blessed by the presence of Kyabje Khochhen Rinpoche, Kyabje Khenchen Rinpoche, Penam Rinpoche and Kyabje Mindroling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche who led a group a group of over 70 monks who travelled from Mindrolling Monastery in Dehra Dun to perform the rabné, consecration ritual, and Tshe Chu Chenmo ritual dances.

Following the consecration, the Kagyed Drubchen was also accomplished in the newly built temple. This incredible gathering to consecrate the new Zangdok Palri Temple was honored by the presence of the chief minister of Sikkim Mr. Prem Singh Tamang, the honorable Sikyong Penpa Tsering la of CTA, the speaker of the CTA parliament Khenpo Sonam Tenphel la, the Desung Kalon Drolma la, and many other dignitaries, representatives of the various monasteries in the Himalayan regions, and community members, who all attended the three-day event.

With the doors now open, May the new Mindrolling Zangdok Palri temple be a symbol and support for the continued flourishing of the Dharma, and may it hold with purity the vastness and depth of the precious Mindrolling Lineage.
